Clint's Song
For six years now, I've been the one to love you, teach you, my little son.
I've been there to repair the wounds, soothe your feelings and chase away the gloom.
But today you walk with lunchbox in hand, out the door, down the steps, all alone you will stand.
Waving goodbye, with tears in my eyes, I'll just pray that the world will treat you kind.
Here he is, teach him gently, his innocent eyes haven't seen the other side.
He thinks everyone loves him, he thinks everyone's kind.
Teachers please teach him gently, when he learns life isn't fair and all men are not true, he thinks you're a hero, he's depending on you.
I guess I've known this day would come, ready or not your journey's begun.
I want to freeze this moment, make a memory right now, while you think the world is your playground.
I wish that I could capture your spirit, lock it tight in a jar so I could always remember your childlike charm.
Waving goodbye, with tears in my eyes, I'll just pray that the world will treat you kind.
Bye Baby.
